Public installation piece from undef in public window collects data of of it’s audience with a Kinect sensor - video embedded below:

User 632 is an installation that stores the behaviour of the people who look at it by monitoring them in return. It wants to know when and how a person passes by or if they stop on the way.

All data is being tracked and displayed publicly. Passers-by are stored as an anonymous number without any hints to their identities. Whoever comes to close to the camera though will be stored with a photograph next to their id.

The installation is made up of three Kinect depth cameras that constantly look for movements which are then reduced to a simple directional line in space. When a visitor enters a specific area, the algorithm is looking for a face. As soon as one is found a countdown appears that shows the time until a photo is taken automatically. At the same time the time a user is in the visible area is stored.

This data (time, path and eventually image) are stored in a database, interpreted and displayed as real-time statistics.

This limited edition 28X24” 9 colors + Gold Metallic Silkscreen poster (awesome right?) was done for the new Tomb Raider game launching event.

The game is about young Lara Croft being stranded on a cursed Japanese island after a plane crash. The island is the shrine of the Sun Queen, being guarded by her loyal cult followers and the oni (zombie cannabilist samurai army). You can watch the trailer here.
This project was super fun as I was given the freedom to interpret the game in how ever ways I want and go nuts with it. Not to mention being able to create a perfect 10colors Silkscreen print without having to go through the registeration nightmare.

Big thanks to AD Jordan Awan who suggested that we could create an edge to edge butterfly piece focusing on the first paragraph of the story: “Driving across the Utah desert on I‐70, James hit a butterfly with his car. Then another. Then a shower of them, hitting the windshield like hail, wings trapped in the wipers, orange and black. The noise of them, muted but steady, woke Molly from her trance, and she looked out the windshield, at broken wings and yellow smears.”

This adjustment emerged in part from an engagement with real phenomena, in which natural systems were shown to behave non-linearly and unpredictably.

In Architecture, while computational developments enabling dynamic and variable modeling have been subsumed into our culture of design and production, perhaps a new kind of idealism has emerged. Formally prolific and inherently multiplicitous, this new idealism proposes algorithmic truth and statistical outcomes over predetermined objectives; it signifies a retreat away from reality and back towards simulation in the smooth space of possibility.

Meanwhile, the consequences of uncertainty have pervaded our culture to its core. Recovering from the initial high of fractal and random geometrical proficiency, architecture is just beginning to (re)embrace the underlying issues embedded within this contemporary mathematics: uncertainty, unpredictability, chance, recursion, and informality.

Wearing a neuro-headset, Thinker Thing’s George Laskowsky has done the unimaginable. He has thought an object into existence. From the sound of it, this is something that just can’t happen. It is a power reserved not for man, but for the gods. And yet this little orange robotic-looking arm was created by the power of a human brain.

Well, that and a whole lot of software — and a 3D printer. So the object in question didn’t just wink into existence when Laskowsky thought of it. Unless, that is, you look at the event in the right light.

Here’s how the whole thing works: First you strap on the EPOC headset, built by Emotiv. Then the Thinker Thing program starts, showing you a display of a very basic shape. Next, as you watch, the object begins to mutate and evolve. (via Dreaming up reality: 3D printed objects created by your mind | DVICE)

this is so cool!

Hmm what they don’t say in the short blurb that the EPOC can really only pick up binary reactions, so a yes/no to the objects presented before you and the software reacts to your decisions evolving the shape. The one actually being printed is convincing, but the bunny/famous gear heart are probably slightly misleading

The brand mark symbolizes the architect’s work with space and light, when its variability reflects the flexible approach that Atrium applies in its work. To make the identity system even more versatile, we have introduced a contour-based version of the brand mark that reflects architectural concepts and notions such as structure, construction and frame.
